Module H7109

Module details for 2022/23.

15 credits

FHEQ Level 6

Module Outline

This module provides you with an introduction to the principles and technologies of modern on-road passenger cars which are still the prime transportation vehicles. A brief comparison of on-road and off-road vehicles is also provided. Topics to be covered will include:

• Vehicle dynamics and corresponding sub-systems including tyres, suspension and steering systems with the aim of modelling, simulation and control; A brief comparison of the on-road and off-road vehicles.
• Control systems including the powertrain, stability and safety control principles and techniques.
• A brief introduction to autonomous vehicles including technologies for perception, localisation, path planning, communication and control.
