How to apply for a vacancy

You can apply for our current vacancies through our , where you can browse our current roles and sign up to receive job alerts when suitable roles become available.

Completing and sending us your application

When you apply for a role, you will be asked to complete your name, email address and how you heard about the role.

You will then be asked to accept our privacy policy.

You can decide to:

  • upload your CV to pre-populate the fields of the application, or
  • go straight into the application itself.

Some roles require a CV and cover letter only, which will be clearly stated on the advert.

The University is a Disability Confident Employer; this is a voluntary UK Government scheme that supports employers to be more inclusive. The scheme aims to help employers make the most of the opportunities provided by employing disabled people and has been developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives. It is the University’s policy to offer an interview to anyone with a disability who meets the essential criteria for the job. You will have an option to opt into this as part of your application.

All applications must be received by midnight of the closing date stated on the advert.

When you submit your application, you receive an automated acknowledgment email confirming that we’ve received your submission.

Eligibility to work in the UK

We have a legal responsibility to ensure all employees have the right to live and work in the UK, and we are committed to equality of opportunity and diversity in the workplace.

For some vacancies, we may be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for the Skilled Worker Route, or a Statement of Guarantee for the Global Talent route, subject to the preferred candidate being able to meet the associated eligibility criteria.

Before you apply, please familiarise yourself with the visa information available on our website. There will also be an opportunity for you to declare your current visa status on your application.

Application updates and outcomes

We respond to all candidates about the outcome of their application, whether you have been successful or not.

If you have not received an outcome three weeks after the closing date, you can email recruitmentadministration@sussex.ac.uk for an update.
