Autumn teaching

In this module, we will consider the nature and structure of the ‘Westminster model’ of the constitution, primarily in its original UK variant.
 
We'll address some of the core constitutional principles of the Westminster model, and examine how those principles are applied. We will consider the relationship between Parliament and executive government; and the role of the courts in judicial review. 
Finally, we'll look at the role of all of these institutions in protecting human rights.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 20 hours of contact time and about 130 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
